Times to conduct Round Robin pools at an estimate of 5 minutes per bout

Pool of 3: 3 bouts x 5 minutes = 15 minutes
Pool of 4: 6 bouts x 5 minutes = 30 minutes
Pool of 5: 10 bouts x 5 minutes = 50 minutes
Pool of 6: 15 bouts x 5 minutes = 1 hour 15 minutes
Pool of 7: 21 bouts x 5 minutes = 1 hour 45 minutes
Pool of 8: 28 bouts x 5 minutes = 2 hours 20 minutes

This does not take into account a possible need for a tie breaker.


A standard (double kills fought until resolved) single elimination tournament with 16 participants could be estimated to take 1 hour and 15 minutes to conduct. How? Give an estimate of 5 minutes per bout with 16 men means a total of 15 bouts for the tournament: 15 bouts x 5 minutes = 1.25 hours
